Galway Simon Community was set up in 1979 by a group of volunteers who refused to accept homelessness on the streets of Galway. With the support of the wider community, we have grown over the years to become a leading provider of homeless and homelessness prevention services across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the voluntary Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing the organisation's strategic direction and operational management. Building on a strong foundation, the CEO will drive excellence in service delivery, while ensuring robust governance and transparency, in line with best practice standards.
With an annual budget of approximately €10 million and 170 staff, the CEO will lead a talented committed multi-disciplinary team to support and advocate on behalf of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the West of Ireland. The Chief Executive will also support and participate in the work of the Simon Communities of Ireland and will contribute to a unified and effective approach to policy development, advocacy and fundraising nationally.
REQUIREMENTS
Suitably qualified and interested candidates will be operating at or near CEO standing with an exemplary track record of leadership in an organisation of relative size, scale and complexity. Experience in a not-for-profit, health and/or social care environment will be beneficial but not essential.
Core competencies will include leadership, strategic vision and organisational awareness, coupled with financial acumen and the ability to contribute at all levels. Candidates must be exceptional communicators with the capacity to engage, inspire, and influence all stakeholders.
An affinity with the West of Ireland as well as a commitment to the mission, vision and values of Galway Simon Community will be essential.
